Recently I sat down with Greg Moore of The Charleston Gazette to talk about my new book, Passing the Music Down. The story is based on two real-life musicians, Melvin Wine and Jake Krack, both old-time fiddle players. Melvin passed away in 2003 at the age of 93. His legacy lives on in the music he "passed down" to friends and students, especially Jake Krack, who began studying with Melvin at the age of 10.
Here is the story "behind the story."

To hear a sample of the music, check out this link to a page on my website with an audio clip of Jake Krack playing "Yew Piney Mountain." ( Hint: You need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the link.)

And here's a link to a multi-media feature with more background on the book.
